HISTORY The Filipino weapon known as the Escrima dates back as far as 200 AD. In the earlier years, there was no formal training available and techniques were primarily passed from father to son. In the 9th century the Chinese began trading with the Philippines. Along with tangible goods, the Chinese also brought much cultural influence and it was this influence that helped the Escrima evolve into a more effective fighting weapon. |
